da wazamba: Ex-West Ham United Employee, a club insider, has said that the Hammers should cash in on Manuel Lanzini this summer, per The West Ham Way podcast (March 4th, 33:00).
What’s he said?
da realbet: Lanzini has endured a difficult season with the Irons.
He has made 20 appearances in all competitions but has failed to score and has registered just three assists, the last of which came in November.
The Argentine playmaker has had some fitness woes, missing five games with a shoulder injury between November and December, but he has flattered to deceive since his return and has been on the bench for all of the last three Irons games, against Manchester City, Liverpool, and Southampton.
And Ex, a noted club insider, believes the time has come for them to cut their losses on the 27-year-old.
He said: “Lanzini, I think it’s time now and I don’t think he’s going to be the same player as he was.
“Been here for a good five years. Time to probably go.”
Try to get a fee
This is probably the last chance West Ham are going to have to get a decent fee for the player.
Lanzini has been an asset to the club but a return of 21 goals and 20 assists in 129 outings is not fantastic and one has to imagine that he will not really be missed if he does go this summer.
Of course, this is dependant on a club showing interest in taking him, which is of no guarantee, but West Ham would surely do business at a reasonable figure.
Did he really play for us?! No West Ham fan has managed to name all of these obscure Irons signings….
He is valued at £18m by Transfermarkt and that would be a good return for a player in his current form.
Considering that he cost £9m in 2016, they would also, surprisingly, be doubling their money.
This summer, as Ex says, is the time to say goodbye.
Meanwhile, West Ham fans have reacted to this major update on Jack Wilshere!
