But there are signs to suggest that the 29-year-old is close to rediscovering top form, and the fact he was one of few if any players to emerge from Thursday with some praise from supporters is telling.
A return of 16 goals from 39 appearances this season proves that Sinclair remains an important asset for the Hoops, and the fans were eager to recognise his quality on Twitter following his Europa League showing.
