da dobrowin: Marko Arnautovic’s future at West Ham United is bound to be under consideration if Edin Dzeko moves to the London Stadium.
What’s the word?
da 888: According to Calciomercato, the Hammers are weighing up a move for Roma forward Dzeko in the January transfer window.
The report claims that the 32-year-old is keen to return to the Premier League, where he spent five years playing for Manchester City between 2011 and 2016.
Since moving to Roma, the forward has scored 78 goals and registered 30 assists in 148 appearances.
This season so far he has netted five goals and bagged two assists in nine outings.
It is easy to see why the Hammers are interested, but it raises questions about Arnautovic’s future.
What could happen?
The Austrian has become a talismanic figure at the London Stadium and is well loved by the fans.
With that in mind, it would not make much sense for West Ham to oust him from the team, but there is reason for concern.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini already has a relationship with Dzeko having worked with him for three years at City.
If the Chilean is the driving force behind a move for the Bosnian then it could result in Arnautovic losing his position as the sole striker up front.
The 29-year-old has the ability to drift out wide if needs be, but he has been excelling as the main focal point and may not want to relinquish that role, which would give West Ham a problem.
