Andreas Christensen was brought into the starting XI to face the Reds in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash at Anfield as a replacement for the injured Antonio Rudiger but hobbled off with a knock of his own in the 73rd minute.
Both centre-halves now face fitness tests for Saturday’s game and should they fail them, Maurizio Sarri will be left with a big decision to make regarding who partners David Luiz at the heart of defence.
Gary Cahill featured against Liverpool in midweek and certainly played his part in stopping a usually rampant Reds attack, but Chelsea have high hopes for 18-year-old Ethan Ampadu and Sarri appears to have warmed to the young Welshman as well.
So, Chelsea fans, should Rudiger and Christensen be unavailable this weekend, which defender would you select to play alongside Luiz? Let us know by voting below…
