da aviator aposta: Memphis Depay ended his time with Manchester United earlier this month, switching to French outfit Lyon, but surprisingly it has been revealed that the Ligue 1 side were not the highest bidders for the Dutch international.
da jogodeouro: That’s been stated by Lyon’s outspoken chairman Jean-Michel Aulas, who told Goal that league rivals Paris Saint-Germain and Nice were both in the hunt for Depay’s signature.
“They will tell you… we were outbid by Paris, Kluivert. There were several clubs [interested] – foreign clubs, Nice, who couldn’t offer the same money, and Paris.”
Named ‘the best young player in the world’ by France Football in 2015, Depay struggled to impress in the Premier League and managed just 33 Premier League appearances during his two years with Manchester United.
Still just 22, Depay has plenty of potential to excel in the coming years and he’ll hope to enjoy better fortune with Lyon- and it started well for Depay with the French outfit, with his side securing a 3-1 victory over Marseille in The Choc des Olympiques on his debut appearance.
