da imperador bet: Speaking to Football Insider, Paul Robinson has talked up the potential first-team return of Everton midfielder Andre Gomes.
What did he say?
da dobrowin: The Portugual international suffered a devastating injury earlier this season in a clash against Tottenham, but the Toffees confirmed that he got through a behind-closed-doors friendly match at Finch Farm at the weekend.
Now, Robinson has claimed his return will be like a “brand new signing” for Carlo Ancelotti, and that he will be a “great addition for them”.

He said: “It is a boost for everybody. It was such a bad injury. Such a freak injury and a really bad one for him at his age. To be able to come back as quickly as he has and to be able to play again you have to give a lot of credit to his professionalism and his dedication because it would have been easy to say, ‘That is it. I have had enough’.
“Under Ancelotti, he will be a great addition for them. To have him back in the reckoning over the coming months, for Ancelotti, it will be like a brand-new signing. They have not worked together yet.“
Too much pressure
Whilst Robinson’s sentiments are understandable, Everton and the club’s fan-base shouldn’t put too much pressure on Gomes’ return.
The Portuguese ace suffered a really traumatic injury, and whilst he may be back to top physical condition sooner rather than later, there may well be some mental scars to overcome too.

Ancelotti should remain patient with the £25.2m-rated midfielder, and simply allow him to recover in his own time. It may well be one of those cases where you just ease him into action for a number of weeks rather than just a couple of games, and see the end of this campaign as almost a mini pre-season for him ahead of next year.
Meanwhile, Phil Kirkbride has revealed this Everton duo could leave the club.
