da premier bet: Schalke 04 left-back Sead Kolasinac will choose between a move to either Arsenal or AC Milan this week, according to the player’s father.
What’s the story?
da dobrowin: Reports emerging from Sky in Germany early last week suggested that Arsenal had all but sealed a deal for the Bosnia international, but manager Arsene Wenger will find out in the next few days whether or not he has secured his man.
Kolasinac is entering the final few months of his contract with the German club, and is free to discuss pre-contract agreements with foreign sides.
Speaking to TV N1 Sarajevo, the player’s father revealed that no deal had been agreed with either club, but the Italian giants hold the upper hand as things stand. This admission will leave Gunners fans sweating, with many Arsenal fan sites seemingly confident a deal had been agreed.
Kolasinac is a product of the Schalke youth system, and has represented Germany across a number of youth levels. However, in 2013 the German born star switched allegiances to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country of his parents, ahead of the 2014 World Cup.
In his nation’s first major tournament appearance, Kolasinac suffered the indignity of scoring the fastest own goal in the history of the tournament, in a 2-1 defeat to finalists Argentina.
Do Arsenal need him?
A star performer amongst a sea of distinctive averageness, Kolasinac is exactly what Arsenal need. The North London side have had a tough year, with many calling for the long serving Arsene Wenger to step away from the club. Yet despite Wenger’s failings, his players have not been at the races. Arsenal have a lacked the passion and desire required to compete at the top of the Premier League table, and need a fresh start.
Securing the signing of 23-year-old Kolasinac could be the beginning of a new Gunners revolution, and perhaps the second coming of Arsene Wenger. Young, ambitious and talented, Kolasinac is exactly what a stricken Arsenal need.
Wenger has already lost a section of the Emirates fanbase, and another false move could see the rest lose faith in the Frenchman. The loss of what many felt to be a guaranteed transfer could be the final straw. As strange as this may sound, Sead Kolasinac could be the most important signing of Arsene Wenger’s reign. Wenger needs a boost, and the Gunners will be sure to go all out to secure their man
All of those associated with Arsenal will be hanging on the words of Sead Kolasinac and his father in the coming days, and the decision of the young Bosnian could have huge repercussions for some at the Gunners.
Wenger, the players, and most importantly the fans need this boost. Whether they get it or not, will be discovered very soon.
