da esport bet: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly interested in signing Rennes forward Jeremy Doku this summer.
What’s the story?
da betcris: According to Dutch outlet Voetbal24, the Reds have set their sights on the highly-rated 19-year-old after being impressed with his exploits at the European Championship.
The report states that Rennes are set to demand £38m for their prized asset, and with Doku’s current contract not expiring until 2025, the French outfit are in a very strong position around the negotiating table.
Liverpool must swoop
Doku rose to prominence at boyhood club Anderlecht in his native Belgium, putting in a string of standout performances that earned him a move to Ligue 1 12 months ago.
And his maiden campaign at the Roazhon Park was one full of promise and potential. The teenager bagged two goals and provided four assists in 37 appearances for Les Rouge et Noir, but his underlying numbers were arguably more eye-catching.
As per WhoScored, Doku completed a whopping 3.7 dribbles per league game throughout 2020/21, far more than any of his teammates, and also produced 1.4 key passes, the third-highest tally in comparison to his colleagues.
He also achieved an overall rating of 7.07, the second-highest total for any Rennes player. His ability and potential is clear for all to see and even caught the eye of Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.
In a recent interview with France Football, Mbappe said: “Recently, I was speaking with my father about a player who impressed me because of his speed qualities, that is (Jeremy) Doku, at Rennes.
“In 5 years as a professional, I have never seen someone from a standing start demonstrate so much power.”
The flying winger has also made his mark at international level, with compatriot Kevin De Bruyne lauding Doku following his full senior debut against Iceland in the Nations League last September.
“He is nimble, fast and he can dribble. Of course, he sometimes makes a mistake, but who doesn’t? He is a diamond in the rough,” said De Bruyne.
After the struggles of Liverpool’s forward line last season, Klopp is thought to be in the market for attacking reinforcements.
And with Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri edging closer to the Anfield exit door, the German tactician could have the funds to lunch a bid for Doku in the current window, meaning the club’s hierarchy must swoop if they want to close the gap to Manchester City.
