That may be why Rafa Benitez is planning a busy January transfer window according to The Daily Mail.
They say Benitez wants to add a striker to his line-up and that Bournemouth’s in form goal-getter is at the top of his wishlist. The Magpies boss also wants to take Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan from Chelsea.
Benitez could face a battle to land his men though with Chelsea preferring to send their young midfielder out on loan to a Premier League team and Bournemouth likely requiring a hefty fee to part with their main attacking threat mid-season.
The right talent?
Ruben Loftus-Cheek is an outstanding talent who could do with getting with some first team football under his belt. He’s made 20 appearances for the Stamford Bridge side but has only 1 Premier League appearance under Antonio Conte.
He’s shown in his game time he has what it takes to play regularly and he has the potential to be a standout in the Championship.
Callum Wilson is a natural goalscorer and if he moved to St James’ Park would no doubt find the net with ease. He scored 20 goals in the Championship the season Bournemouth were promoted to the top flight, clearly showing he has what it takes not just to score at the level, but to do it under pressure in a promotion battle.
While promotion is likely for the Magpies anyway, we reckon securing these two talented players would go a long way to guaranteeing it.
