Liverpool and Chelsea don’t like one another. So any claims that the Reds may be given an easy ride against the already crowned champions were always likely to be wide of the mark, and it’s fair to say that was the outcome in west London. The Blues put up a genuine fight against their North West foes, providing an entertaining spectacle in the capital, which has left us with as many questions as answers.Steven Gerrard said goodbye to the side he nearly joined, Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool once again struggled in front of goal and Diego Costa was even spotted in amongst his own fans… Here are THREE things we learnt from the 1-1…[interaction ]
A star has been born
Chelsea’s faith in young players has been almost non-existent in recent years. The demand for instant success and the cash available has contributed to this, but Blues fans did get a glimpse of a rising star today… Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The midfielder put in a composed display in the middle of the park, rarely wasting possession while working well with John Obi Mikel to nullify Philippe Coutinho’s influence. Will he be one to watch next season? Quite possibly!
Liverpool need a miracle
Although not over mathematically, Liverpool need all the cards to fall in their favour over the coming two games to finish in the top four. Manchester United lead them by six points, so the Reds must beat Crystal Palace and Stoke and pray that the Red Devils slip to losses against Arsenal and Hull… Even then a swing of 14 goals will be needed, so big wins are in order!
The glass of even the most optimistic Kopite is surely half empty.
Liverpool may be letting Gerrard go too soon

With his equaliser today, Steven Gerrard became Liverpool’s highest Premier League scorer this season with a tally of eight. The 34-year-old is still undoubtedly important to the Reds, but they’ll have to cope without him next term, as he’ll be sunning himself in California – we mean playing for LA Galaxy, soz.
He’s netted the club’s last two goals and still features whenever fit. Can Jordan Henderson fill those boots?
